This hands-on degree is tailored for aspiring game designers. Throughout your studies, you'll be part of a collaborative classroom environment. Each of your core classes utilize the most up-to-date industry equipment.

Gaming Lab Experience

As a student, you'll have access to a modern gaming lab equipped with cutting-edge technology where you'll complete hands-on projects and build a portfolio.

A semester-long capstone assignment is a requirement and involves the design and development of a game software application. Through this capstone course, you'll develop essential communication and tech skills.

State-of-the-Art Tech

FLCC's facilities will provide you with opportunities in virtual reality, 2D/3D modeling, motion capture, 3D printing, and rapid prototyping. Plus, you'll have the option of entering a game jam, which is a hackathon for video games.

Study Online

Take control of your Game Programming studies with online learning! Study on your time and from a location that fits your busy schedule. If you choose to pursue the hybrid program option, you have the freedom to complete at least 50% of your coursework online, giving you greater flexibility.

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Collaborate with other students on large projects, working with multiple disciplines to develop games from design through production to release.
  • Use problem solving and logic to create and implement algorithms and assets according to given limitations and requirements.
  • Develop a detailed schedule of tasks, key design documents, and benchmarks with a constant reflection and review of tools and best practices.
  • Develop and publish a professional portfolio on the World Wide Web.

Transfer Opportunities

An established articulation agreement with Rochester Institute of Technology means that FLCC graduates with this degree can easily transfer into RIT's Game Design and Development program.
