1. Hands On Care: We are a 2-bed comfort care home supporting those at end of life at no cost to them or their families. Hands On Care volunteers support our residents in daily care tasks 24/7. 2-hour and 4-hour shifts available, training is provided. 2. LIGHT[the]HILL: Our annual luminaria celebration at Kershaw Park held the first Saturday in Nov. We set up over 2,000 lights in memory/honor of loved ones across the lake front. Volunteers needed for set up and take down day of as well as tasks leading up to the event Oct-Nov. 3. Spring Flower Sale: Annually the first Monday in March we cut and arrange over 5,000 bouquets at Stella's then deliver them to area businesses. Volunteers needed to process flowers, deliver and coordinate pick-up at Light Hill day of. Volunteers could also organize groups sales Jan-Mar if interested! (Updated 2/2024)

Volunteers are needed for many helpful services and fun projects. Examples include gift shop cashier, patient visitor, info desk greeter, PT/OT outpatient aide, escort, recycling team, door frame painter, TDI pet therapy, resident one-on-one time, Sunday service pianist, and activities aide. Home-delivered meal volunteers are needed! Home-delivered meal volunteers can deliver as little as once a week, once a month, or be an occasional substitute. Pathway Home is a hospice home in Seneca Falls. We serve 2 residents who have a life expectancy of 3 months or less and are on in-home hospice services. Volunteer opportunities include: direct care (provide hands-on care, 4 hour shifts available 7 a.m.-11 p.m. 7 days a week, flexible scheduling), grant writing research/letters of inquiry and proposal writing. We would love to have an opportunity to have FLCC students join us as volunteers or participants for either of our two big events of the year: RSD River Ramble (5K Walk/Run/Carnival in June) and Adventures in Education (presentation by a world-renowned "adventurer" in October). *Knowledge of American Sign Language is helpful but not required for either of these volunteer opportunities. Safe Harbors of the Finger Lakes, Inc.
Volunteer advocates take after-hours calls on our 24-hour crisis hotline and accompany sexual assault and domestic violence victims to the hospital for FRE exams and to the police departments to report the crimes committed against them. This volunteer experience requires completion of a 40-hour mandatory training, with ten additional annual hours of continuing education. Other volunteer opportunities include administrative work and odd jobs within our four office locations in Penn Yan, Geneva, Canandaigua, and Seneca Falls, and tabling for Safe Harbors at various community events throughout our three county service area.
