Adriana Mucedola

About

Adriana Mucedola, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Communication at Finger Lakes Community College. She teaches courses in communication and media, encouraging students to become critical thinkers, thoughtful communicators, and active consumers of media. Through current events, discussion, and media literacy, she challenges students to question the messages they encounter, examine their own assumptions, and approach communication with curiosity and kindness.

Mucedola's research examines the intersection of media, advertising, women's reproductive health, and gendered stigma. Her work explores how media representations shape public understanding and influence conversations surrounding women's health. Her research has been published in Health Care for Women International, Computers in Human Behavior, Communication Quarterly, and Women's Reproductive Health and has been presented nationally and internationally.

Mucedola received Syracuse University's All-University Doctoral Dissertation Prize for her research examining menstrual imagery in advertising and the public discourse surrounding those representations. She holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. from Syracuse University and a B.A. from SUNY Oswego. At FLCC, she also contributes to student-centered initiatives that aim to make students' college experiences more meaningful.
