Who Should Take Adult Education Courses?
Our adult education courses are designed for the following student populations:
- Adults who did not complete high school and want to earn a diploma
- Non-English-speaking adults who want to learn the language
- International students who want to prepare for the TOEFL iBT exam
Getting Started with Adult Education Classes
Our High School Equivalency (HSE) and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes begin with an intake and orientation process. The intake coordinator will assess your current skill level and help you identify the best program and location to meet your needs.

High School Equivalency (HSE)
FLCC's free non-credit HSE courses will help you improve your basic skills and prepare you to earn your General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Successful completion of the GED leads you to earn your HSE diploma from the New York State Education Department.

English as a Second Language (ESL)
Learn or improve your English language skills with FLCC's free non-credit ESL courses. FLCC offers beginning, intermediate, and advanced ESL courses. Small class sizes and self-paced learning will help you build confidence as you practice reading, writing, and speaking English.
