How to Apply for Aid
Applying for aid can seem like a challenge, so we have identified the steps to make the process easier. As an applicant, it is important to submit appropriate application materials and documentation. Applications are considered according to the date they are finalized.
Recommended submission date to ensure timely aid processing for Fall semester is May 1.
Step 1: Create Your FSA User ID
- Create a FSA User ID at www.fsaid.ed.gov.
- Note: Dependent students must have one parent register too
Step 2: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov and submit it with the appropriate FSA User IDs.
- Note: The 2020-21 FAFSA uses 2018 tax year information.
Step 3: Complete a New York State Aid Payment Application
Visit the NYS Higher Education Services website to complete an online New York State Aid Payment Application. This link can be found on the FAFSA confirmation page. Review the application for accuracy and submit.
Step 4: Submit Additional Documents, if Required
In addition to the FAFSA, sometimes you are required to submit other required documents so the Financial Aid Office is able to complete your file review and award your financial aid. If you're unsure what documents you need to provide, please log into your WebAdvisor account.
Step 5: Await Notification
Once your information has been processed, the Office of Financial Aid will send an award notification in the mail to your address that is listed in our system.
