College open houses have so much to see, people to talk to, and information to take in. By the end of the day, it’s easy to realize that you forgot to ask something important.

To help you feel more prepared, here are a few common questions and where to find the answers.

1. What do I do after I’m accepted?

Once you’re accepted, you have to begin the enrollment process. The College provides a detailed outline for you to follow.

Visit the Preparing to Attend FLCC webpage for information on how to:

  • Activate your FLCC student portal and email
  • Submit your transcripts and financial aid documents
  • Complete health records and registration
  • And additional resources as you prepare for the first day of classes

2. Can I change my major if my interests have changed?

Students studying in the Incubator during a Laker Day event. FLCC tutoring centers give students a place to collaborate, get help or study on their own. Short answer: Yes!

During your new student registration appointment, you will meet with an academic advisor from the Center for Academic Advising and Transfer Services. They will help you:

  • Evaluate any transfer credits
  • Review your goals
  • Build your first semester schedule

This is a great time to talk about switching your major.

Even after the semester starts, you can still make a change. Just schedule a meeting with an academic advisor to get the process started.

3. Are scholarships available?

Yes, the FLCC Foundation distributes more than $250,000 in local scholarships.

If you would like to be considered for a scholarship, you can complete the FLCC scholarship application

With the one application, you can:

  • Be matched based on your responses
  • Be considered for multiple scholarships

The scholarship application deadline for the fall 2026 – spring 2027 academic year is April 24.

4. When does the housing application open?

Two students carrying items into the Suites. The Suites at Laker Landing have private bedrooms, a full kitchen, lounges, and more. The Suites at Laker Landing, FLCC’s student housing, does not have an official application deadline, but timing matters.

Housing is first-come, first-served, so students are encouraged to apply early.

The housing application for the fall 2026 - spring 2027 academic year will open May 1.

Photos, rates and fees, frequently asked questions, and the housing application are available at flcc.edu/suites.

5. How can I get involved on campus?

Getting involved is a great way to feel connected. At FLCC, you can explore:

  • 20+ student clubs and organizations
  • Student government
  • Athletic teams
  • On-campus jobs

During New Student Orientation, you will learn more about these opportunities.

You can also check out the online events calendar to see what’s happening at FLCC.

If you have questions about classes, financial aid, or wellness resources, FLCC’s One Stop Center is the best place to start.

You can visit the One Stop in person, email or call (585) 785-1000.
