The Day After the Election: Understanding What Comes Next for New York

The Civil Discourse Series encourages respectful engagement, intercultural understanding, and a sense of belonging at FLCC.
Following the election, this program will provide students with a structured opportunity to discuss how changes in elected leadership and public policy may affect New York's economy, laws, education, public services, and communities. The program will emphasize understanding rather than political debate and encourage students to consider how citizens can respond constructively to policy changes.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain how election outcomes can influence government policy.
- Identify potential effects of policy changes on communities and institutions.
- Discuss ways citizens can participate in the policymaking process.
- Practice evaluating political and economic claims using credible information.
