SUNY Reconnect covers tuition, fees and books for students age 25 to 55 who do not already have a bachelor's degree and who enroll in high-demand programs such as SST.

Through SST, program coordinator Sam Samanta helps students identify high tech careers and tailor their education for those careers.

"Our approach to a sustainable smart workforce for resilient high-tech ecosystems may be replicated across the nation to help address current workforce needs, especially in small and medium enterprises; and the emerging workforce needs identified by Manufacturing USA Institutes," he said.

"Together, we could help generate enormous economic impact over the next decade and transform thousands of lives and hundreds of rural / semi-rural communities sustainably, helping nation address advanced technology workforce challenges now and emerging in the future due to an accelerated digital transformation."
