Holocaust Remembrance: William Lin
Tuesday, April 14, 2026
A second-generation survivor tells his family's story.
Survivors offer the most powerful testimonies and reflections of the Holocaust; however, the numbers of survivors and direct witnesses are dwindling. Succeeding generations thus have a role to play. Bill Lin is a member of what is sometimes referred to as the “2nd generation.”
Bill was born in Poland just a few years after World War II. His parents were holocaust survivors. Most of their families perished. Bill has some childhood memories of post-war life in Communist Poland, including incidents of antisemitism. His family immigrated to Israel during the 1950’s, and eventually immigrated to the United States in 1960. Bill and his wife moved to western New York in 1977, and raised their family in Amherst. Bill recently retired from the Computer Information Systems department at Buffalo State College.
Bill will give an in-person presentation at the FLCC main campus. It will also be broadcast live on the Finger Lakes TV network, available on Roku, Spectrum cable channel 1304, and a 24/7 web stream.
The Holocaust Remembrance event is part of the History, Culture and Diversity Series, organized by Robert Brown, professor of history.
