Viticulture and Wine Center Open House

Visitors can tour the teaching winery and sample wines.

The Finger Lakes Community College Viticulture and Wine Center will hold an open house and tastings on Saturday, Nov. 22, from noon to 4 p.m.

The center, a licensed commercial winery, is located at 100 Empire Drive, off Pre-Emption Road, in Geneva. Tastings are $10 for five samples. To make a reservation, call (585) 785-1183 or email viticulture@flcc.edu.

Guests can sample award-winning wines, tour the facility, and support the next generation of viticulture and winemaking professionals. Earlier this year, FLCC won the Best in Class award for pétillant naturel wine in the New York Wine Classic, an annual contest open to all New York state wineries.

Pétillant naturel, or pét-nat, is a French term that means naturally sparkling. It uses wild yeast that grows on the grapes and is bottled before fermentation finishes, giving the wine natural bubbles.
