HPE 214 - Advanced First Aid, CPR and AED

This course will teach the student how to recognize an emergency and how to respond. The student will be prepared to make appropriate decisions regarding first aid care and how to provide care for injuries or sudden illness until professional medical help arrives. Upon completion of this course, student will be eligible for National Safety Council Certification in Advanced First Aid, CPR and AED.

Principles of human anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, and psychology will be presented, along with liability and administrative issues in sports medicine. Designed to provide an enrichment of learning through the use of outdoor experiences. This advanced course will give the student an opportunity to better understand the ecological balance and to take part in a wilderness camping environment.
