  • About Nursing

FLCC has been educating nurses since 1968. Accredited by the Commission for Education in Nursing, the A.A.S. Nursing program combines Liberal Arts courses with a comprehensive healthcare curriculum that includes hands-on experience at local healthcare facilities. Take courses in medical/surgical care, maternal/newborn health, and mental health from our experienced healthcare instructors.

After completing the program, you will be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). On average, over 85% of FLCC's first-time test-takers pass the annual exam and become RNs immediately upon graduation.

    Traditional Nursing Program Option

Our conventional A.A.S. Nursing program is held during the day at our main campus in Canandaigua. This traditional track is intended for:

    • Students entering college from high school who have selected nursing as a career.

    • Transfer students who have completed some college courses and want to begin a nursing career.
    • Adult students seeking a second degree in nursing as a career change.

Accelerated LPN to RN Program Option

We also offer an accelerated option that is ideal for licensed practical nurses (LPNs). Through appropriate testing, LPNs may be granted advanced standing in FLCC's Nursing program. This option minimizes repetitive coursework for qualified students, and therefore can be completed in as little as 18 months.
