Culinary Arts

The Experience

In our Culinary Arts certificate program, you'll experience a core of classes in culinary arts, and you'll gain a strong foundation of knowledge in this growing field. If you share an interest in culinary arts, and it is your goal to change careers or seek employment in the food service industry, this program is designed for you.

Classes are typically offered two days each week, which provides you flexibility with your schedule and gives you the opportunity to work part or full-time as you pursue your education.

Graduates have gone on to apply their education to positions as chefs, cooks, and menu planners.

Hands-On Learning

Your culinary classes resemble what is typically expected in a professional kitchen setting. Combined with our lab and food sequence courses, you'll assist with operating a fine dining restaurant experience.

For a select few Friday evenings each fall semester, our program hosts Dinner at Julia, which offers innovative, multi-course menus that are designed by our Culinary Arts students.

And, as you complete your degree, you'll be prepared to be involved in service learning assignments assisting with food service events and competitions in the FLCC community. You will also gain extensive hands-on training through a required professional work experience that taps into the knowledge of experts in the vibrant culinary and tourism industries of the Finger Lakes region.

Our Culinary Arts faculty brings a variety of real-world experiences in the restaurant industry to the classroom. From working as chefs to managing restaurants to teaching public classes at the local New York Kitchen, you'll learn from knowledgeable faculty in your Culinary Arts classes.
