Associate in Science (A.S.)
Your educational experience will culminate with a Capstone Project. You'll showcase your expertise and skills and enjoy the creative freedom to delve into your favorite facet of New Media.
In your final semester as a New Media student, you will develop a concept for a large-scale project, which you will pitch to faculty and staff from computer science, graphic design, and communications. Several projects will be selected. You and a team of your classmates will spend the semester seeing it through from concept to launch.
Along the way, teams keep a blog and provide updates to the class about their progress, pitfalls, and successes. At the end of the semester, your teams will unveil your project to the campus community at a public presentation.
Capstone Projects are often the highlight of the portfolios that graduates rely on in the job market and for transfer into four-year programs.
Previous Capstone Projects have included wayfinding apps, community building video games, documentaries, stop motion videos, promotional videos, and more! For these projects, students used graphic design, coding, photography, videography, and storyboarding skills.
