The Experience

If you plan on pursuing a bachelor's in Creative Writing, FLCC is an excellent start on your journey. You will choose where to focus your creative energy, whether it's on fiction, creative non-fiction, or poetry.

Your coursework will include literature and composition. To understand what makes a poem or story work, you must also be engaged with contemporary and classic writers. They laid the groundwork that your creative output will continue.

Honors Studies

If you're curious and motivated, you may want to explore honors studies courses. They center on reflection and community building and are available to full-time and part-time students in all degree programs. Successful completion of these courses, or earning your Honors Studies certificate or diploma, can increase your transfer options and make you eligible for specific scholarships.

Upon completion of this degree program, students will have the ability to:

The Graduates

There is one certainty in the working world: employers need good writers. Many journalists, lawyers, teachers, and marketing professionals have creative writing backgrounds.

Upon graduation, you will be ready to transfer into a bachelor's program or seek out internships in marketing, advertising, publishing, or related fields. Or you can enter the job market.

When the time comes, you'll be prepared for a career that will put your skills and creativity to good use.
