Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) at FLCC

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is a dynamic program designed to inspire and empower young individuals to turn their ideas into successful businesses. Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and real-world experiences, YEA! equips students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to become the next generation of innovative entrepreneurs.

Class Information

Classes meet weekly at Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., starting January 8 and concluding on June 4. Classes will not meet during school breaks and holiday recess. Orientation for admitted students and parents will take place on Monday, January 6, 2025.

Students will transform their hobbies, passions, and ideas into detailed business plans and pitch them to a panel of investors. Finalists will have the opportunity to secure real funding and launch their own fully developed companies. Through stimulating class content, guest lectures, and field trips to local businesses, students will receive real-world advice and guidance from leaders in the region.

Who Should Apply?

Students in grades 6-8 and 9-12 who have demonstrated creativity, academic effort, determination, enthusiasm, the ability to communicate, and a commitment to their community. Students who apply should be responsible individuals who pursue goals with tenacity. Prior experience in business is not required.

The application deadline is December 10, 2024, for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Students will need to submit a school transcript, an essay, and a letter of recommendation and participate in a personal interview.

There is a $20 application fee, which is waived using promo code YEA20.

Tuition

Program tuition includes all program materials, student guides, instruction, field trips and associated transportation, a mentorship program, and access to a network of local leaders and business professionals.

The cost is $995 per student. Scholarships are available based on need and merit. A $100 tuition waiver is available for the children and grandchildren of FLCC, Golisano Institute, RIT, and University of Rochester faculty, staff, and alumni. Payment plans are also available.
