Ability to Benefit (ATB)
The ATB option allows eligible students to be admitted to FLCC while actually working towards obtaining a GED. After successfully completing specific requirements, students will be eligible to petition NYS to issue a GED while concurrently working on completing their FLCC degree.
Obtaining the GED or completing the equivalent courses is a requirement to graduate from FLCC. Students will be assigned an advisor who will insure they are taking the appropriate coursework.
To be eligible for the program you must:
- Be 18 years old or your high school class must have graduated
- Agree to follow course placement requirements for enrolling in a combination of courses which are designed to help ensure success at FLCC
- Achieve a minimum score on the ATB tests of reading, writing and arithmetic skills
Ability to Benefit Testing
ATB Testing is comprised of three tests: reading comprehension, sentence skills, and basic arithmetic. (see sample questions).
